The Fury

2018 – Graphite and carbon on paper – 140 – 140 cm (55.1 x 55.1 in)

The young woman in the drawing looks straight at the viewer. On her slightly damp hair she wears a lush wreath of flowers like a bridal crown.

In “The Fury” the viewer gets confronted with an upset, downright angry young woman. The reason for her anger remains uncertain: Was she pushed into making a decision that she now feels forced to make? The dew, otherwise a sign of cooling off, has the effect of condensation on an emotionally overheated body.

In contrast to the intensely colored oil paintings in the “The Dew” series, the gray tones of the drawing also refer to the loneliness into which people are sometimes thrown in crucial situations.
